Eminent historical playwright, novelist, drama director
  William Tayler came to India as a clerk in the East India Company. He spent number of years in India and worked in different capacities. He was judge at Arrah. He was commissioner of Patna during the stormy days of 1857. He was harsh in managing the affairs to curb the disturbances of 1857. This was a black spot on his career and he was removed from service. Then he practiced Law. He wrote his memories in two volumes which were published from London. This is the abridged and edited version of original book.
