  A famous mythological love and emotion packed drama based on the story of Shakunta and King Dushyant Kalidas was a great poet in Sanskrit literature. It is said that he was one of the nine jewels of king Vikramaditya. Abhigyan Sukuntalam is supposed to be the most outstanding creative drama of the great poet. Shakuntala is the stage adaption in Hindi of the work. King Dushyant, in course of hunting, meets Shakuntala in the forest and falls in love. When he leaves for the capital he gives a ring to Shakuntala as a symbol for recognition. In the meantime sage Durvaasa comes, but she does not notice his arrival. In anger the sage curses her. When Rishi Kanva arrives and learns about Shakuntala’s meeting with Dushyant, he sends her to her husband. But Dushyant fails to recognize her. She goes elsewhere. Later on the ring is presented before the king who recalls everything.
