It is a Hindi stage adaptation of well known Sanskrit drama of the same title by Mahakavi Vishakahdutt. This drama depicts the end of the Nanda dynasty and the emergence of the Maurya dynasty. Rakshas was the able and trusted prime minister of the last Nanda King who was defeated and slaughtered through the wit of Chanakya. This drama unfolds the political diplomacies of two great minds. Ultimately Chanakya succeeds in curbing Rakshas through his wit and bringing him in favor of his disciple Chandargupta. Many changes have been made to make the play stage worthy.
